The NZTA runs an annual taxidermy competition on the last weekend in September at the Taupo Arts Centre. This competition draws entries from New Zealand and Australia and is typically judged by American Judges some of whom are World Champions is their own right. This level of judging plays an important role in developing the Taxidermy Skills of the participation membership and these judges also run seminars in conjunction with the competition.
